Students of Mayai Lambi College, Yumnam Huidrom, have launched an agitation demanding the revocation of a teacher’s transfer order and the immediate filling of vacant teaching posts in the institution and across the state. As part of the protest, members of the College Students’ Union locked the main entrance gate of the college, effectively disrupting normal academic activities on campus. The students condemned the transfer of a faculty member, terming it unjustified and detrimental to the already strained academic environment due to an acute shortage of teaching staff.
According to student leaders speaking to the media, the removal of the teacher has exacerbated the faculty crisis and directly impacted the quality of education being delivered to students. They accused the authorities of ignoring repeated appeals to fill longstanding teaching vacancies and criticized the transfer as reflecting a lack of seriousness in addressing broader issues faced by government colleges.
The students urged the concerned authorities to immediately revoke the transfer order and take steps to recruit adequate teaching staff. They warned that failure to take appropriate action could lead to intensified agitations in the coming days.
