Aug 17, 2026 : A large number of students from various higher secondary schools in the Kwakeithel, Sangaipurou areas joined a rally in Imphal, pressing for the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to be carried out ahead of the Census.
Organised under the banner of the Campaign for Just & Fair Delimitation (JFD) Student Wing, the rally started from Tiddim Ground, where students gathered before marching towards Keishampat.
The participants carried placards and banners and raised slogans highlighting their demand for an NRC exercise before the Census. The march later returned to Tiddim Ground and concluded there.
The students called on the authorities to consider their demand and undertake the NRC process before the upcoming Census, amid concerns surrounding the forthcoming exercise.
