In a factional gunfight between two armed groups suspected to be the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) and NSCN (IN), which took place at Zoupi Village under New Keithelmanbi Police Station in Kangpokpi district, one suspected ZUF cadre died on the spot.
The incident is reported to be the second such clash within the last two months. Earlier, on September 2 this year, cadres of the NSCN (IM) and the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) exchanged fire at around 10:15 am near Guigairong Village, located about 8 km west of Khoupum Police Station.
In the recent past, there have also been reports of several NSCN cadres belonging to the Zeliangrong community joining the ZUF in the region.
