Feb. 11, 2025: The state of Manipur is likely to be kept under suspended animation, according to many unconfirmed speculative reports. After meeting several ministers and MLAs, BJP NE in-charge Sambit Patra, along with State BJP President A. Sharda, rushed to Manipur Raj Bhawan to meet the Governor. Before going to Raj Bhawan, Sambit Patra and A. Sharda visited the CM Secretariat to call on N. Biren Singh. Later, Minister Th. Basanta Kumar Singh, Minister Awangbou Newmai, and MLA Nasir also rushed inside Raj Bhawan while filing this report.
However, the meeting has concluded, and none of the attendees have commented on what transpired inside Raj Bhawan.
Amidst a fervent race for the Chief Ministerial post in Manipur, speculation abounds as key BJP legislators, including Northeast Coordinator Sambit Patra, convened a meeting at Raj Bhawan in Imphal.
The meeting, attended by BJP Manipur President A. Sharda and several legislators, reportedly alongside Ministers Awangbou Newmai, Th. Basanta Kumar, MLA Abdul Nasir, and Th. Radheshyam, has sparked intense speculation regarding the state’s political future.
Details of the closed-door meeting with the Governor remain undisclosed, prompting conjecture over scenarios ranging from government suspension to the selection of a new Chief Minister. Sambit Patra, actively engaged in discussions while stationed at Hotel Imphal, previously held private meetings with BJP legislators like Minister Th. Biswajit, MLA Th. Radheshyam, Speaker Th. Satyabarta, Minister Th. Basanta Kumar, and Minister Y. Khemchand.
With all participants maintaining silence post-meeting, attention now turns to tomorrow’s reported summons of BJP legislators by central leaders for crucial deliberations on the state’s leadership succession.
As anticipation mounts, political observers keenly await the unfolding developments to ascertain Manipur’s next Chief Minister.
