Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA) at Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, setting in motion a nationwide campaign aimed at strengthening women’s health and empowering families.
In line with the national rollout, Manipur held its state-level launch of the initiative at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Khumbong, Imphal West. The programme was attended by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla as Chief Guest, with Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel presiding and MLA Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh serving as Guest of Honour.
The launch was accompanied by a large health camp that drew more than 2,000 visitors. A total of 46 stalls were installed, showcasing 26 health programmes such as reproductive and child health services, non-communicable disease management, mental health support, eye and oral health care, TB control, leprosy eradication, AYUSH therapies, and blood donation drives. Departments including Social Welfare, Food Safety, Panchayati Raj Institutions (MSRLM), PMJAY, and ABDM also joined the campaign, highlighting their role in health and welfare.
Free services available at the camp included OPD consultations across multiple specialties, diagnostic screenings, medicines under both state health services and the Jan Aushadhi scheme, blood donation facilities, wheelchairs from the Social Welfare Department, as well as spectacles and walking aids for senior citizens.
The SNSPA campaign will run across all districts of Manipur from 17 September to 2 October 2025, with health camps being organised in District Hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and medical colleges.
During the Khumbong event, Governor Bhalla personally visited the health kiosks and departmental stalls, interacting with doctors, officials, and volunteers. He praised the coordinated effort of departments and frontline workers in delivering healthcare and raising awareness at the community level.
The state-level launch of SNSPA in Manipur is being viewed as a milestone in advancing women’s health, increasing access to essential medical services, and building stronger, healthier families — all in line with the mission of creating a well-nourished and empowered India.
