Feb 10, 2025 (UKH): The apex body of the Tangkhul community in Manipur, the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), has declared an emergency after fresh incidents of firing and arson were reported, which have shaken the “Wung Tangkhul Region.”
Following a series of violent activities at Sharkaphung/Sikibung village, including arson and firing with sophisticated automatic rifles allegedly carried out by Kuki miscreants, the declaration of emergency was necessitated, according to information reaching here in Imphal. Internet services in the district have been shut down for five days by the government to counter misinformation and disinformation that could possibly escalate the issue.
The TNL declaration was proclaimed to avert any unwanted incidents involving Tangkhul Naga citizens. TNL has appealed to all its citizens to stay alert and informed, sources said.
