The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) witnessed heightened tension today after the death of a woman admitted for knee surgery, with aggrieved relatives alleging medical negligence.
The deceased has been identified as Hijam Ibecha of Awang Sekmai.
Family members claimed that she was administered a wrong injection, which allegedly led to heart failure.
Her sudden demise triggered an uproar inside the hospital complex as relatives, friends, and local residents staged a demonstration demanding accountability.
The victim’s family alleged that timely intervention could have saved her life but accused the doctors and hospital authorities of failing to provide proper care.
Hospital security personnel were deployed to contain the situation as the protest threatened to escalate.
Till the filing of this report, RIMS authorities have not made any official comments regarding the allegation.
