Th. Muivah Receives Grand Civic Reception in Senapati

Thousands carrying Naga flags gathered at the Senapati District Stadium on Wednesday to welcome Thuingaleng Muivah, Ato Kilonser (Prime Minister) and chief negotiator of the NSCN/GPRN, during a grand civic reception organized in his honour.

Hosted by the Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) and coordinated by the United Naga Council (UNC), the event drew nearly one lakh people from across southern Nagalim — one of the largest gatherings ever witnessed in the district.

The 91-year-old leader arrived by helicopter from his native Somdal village in Ukhrul and was greeted with cheers, drum beats, and traditional dances as students and villagers lined the roads waving Naga flags.

In his address, Muivah thanked the people for their unwavering support and reminded them to hold fast to their history and unity. He reaffirmed the NSCN’s commitment to an “honourable Indo-Naga solution” under the Framework Agreement and urged the people to strengthen brotherhood through love and understanding.

The programme featured cultural performances and choir presentations by different tribes, while 134 ordained Naga Christian leaders offered prayers for Muivah’s health and guidance.
