The rhythmic clash of swords and spears echoed through HRD Academy, Ghari, today as Thang-Ta Day 2025 was observed with grandeur under the theme “Thang-Ta for guiding future generations with wisdom.”
Organized by the Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts & Cultural Society (KIMACS) and the Thang-Ta Day Observation Committee, the event drew students, masters, and cultural enthusiasts in a celebration of Manipur’s indigenous martial legacy.
The observance began with the solemn Thang-Ta salutation, followed by floral tributes to legendary Thang-Ta gurus and the rendition of the State Song, setting a dignified tone for the ceremony.
A special highlight of the programme was the honouring of 27 KIMACS volunteers and Thang-Ta gurus for their dedication to preserving and promoting the art.
The arena soon came alive with high-energy Thang-Ta demonstrations performed by students and professional practitioners, showcasing agility, discipline, and cultural depth.
The organisers also presented prizes to outstanding students of the Thang-Ta Common Examination 2025, encouraging young talents to carry forward the traditional martial form.
Inspirational speeches by respected figures highlighted the importance of Thang-Ta as a guiding force for future generations.
The event concluded with a renewed call to safeguard and propagate the indigenous martial heritage of Manipur in the years ahead.
