Thanga MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh has strongly condemned the May 20 incident at Yaingangpokpi-Gwaltabi checkpoint in Imphal East, where personnel of the 4th Battalion Mahar Regiment allegedly ordered the removal of the word “Manipur” from a state transport bus carrying journalists to the Shirui Lily Festival.
In a Facebook post issued on his official page, MLA Robindro expressed deep anguish, calling the act “unacceptable” and “deeply hurtful” to all who love Manipur.
“It is shocking that the bus carrying journalists was stopped three times within just one kilometre. This targeted act is not only unjustified but an affront to the dignity and identity of our state,” he wrote.
He urged authorities to initiate a high-level inquiry without delay and hold those responsible accountable. “The dignity and identity of Manipur must be protected at all costs,” he added in his post.
