Bishnupur, February 19: Thanga AC MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh distributed monetary assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at the Moirang Khunou Mamang Sabal Mandop Relief Camp under Thanga Assembly Constituency in Bishnupur district.
The financial assistance was provided through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to ensure transparency and direct credit of funds to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
Under the programme, ₹2,420 has been transferred to 10,072 individual IDPs for the purchase of mattresses and other essential household items. Additionally, ₹20,000 has been provided to 997 households whose homes were completely burnt down under the second phase of assistance. In the first phase, ₹25,000 had already been disbursed out of the total ₹1,00,000 financial assistance package to be extended to each eligible household. The initiative covers beneficiaries across 44 relief camps.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh stated that the government remains fully committed to supporting displaced families and ensuring that relief measures reach every deserving beneficiary in a timely and transparent manner. He further assured that continuous efforts are being made to strengthen rehabilitation measures and restore normalcy in affected areas.
Concerned officials were also present during the distribution programme.
