Ahead of Loktak Day, Thanga MLA Tongbram Robindro Singh extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of Manipur and called for collective efforts to protect and preserve the state’s most treasured natural asset — Loktak Lake.
In his message, the MLA described Loktak Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Northeast India, as “the lifeline of Manipur” that nurtures the state’s culture, supports livelihoods, and sustains the unique ecosystem of Keibul Lamjao National Park — the world’s only floating national park.
He stated that Loktak is not just a natural resource but “the very identity and pride of Manipur.” Emphasizing the need for responsible environmental stewardship, Robindro appealed to the people to keep the lake clean, adopt sustainable practices, and strengthen the bond between nature and society.
“By safeguarding Loktak, we safeguard the future of Manipur,” he said, urging collective commitment to ensure that the lake continues to inspire and sustain generations to come.
