Giving his keynote address, M. Madhusudon, General Secretary, District Olympic Association, Thoubal, stated that after the Manipur Olympic Association took significant steps to promote sports in Manipur, the Olympic movement has also extended its reach to Thoubal district. This idea was conceived by the leaders of the association and was established in 2003 with former sports organizer Laishram Chandrakishwor (Retd. IPS) of Thoubal Haokha as the founder president, along with other sports enthusiasts.
After functioning for some time, the association was revitalized on February 24, 2023, with renewed vigour and activities.
Following this, the Thoubal District Olympic Association has successfully participated in various sports events and competitions.
As a significant achievement, the first “Thoubal District Olympic Games 2025–26” in the history of Manipur sports was successfully organized in the state with 20 games/events. The games were held from September 24 to 28, 2025, across 20 different venues in the district with public support. The then Deputy Commissioner of the district, Hannah Kahmei, IAS, served as the organizing secretary for the games. It was highlighted that the association’s current progress is due to the sacrificing spirit and courage of the present office bearers, and there are plans to continue organizing these games in the coming years.
Secretary Madhusudon also proposed that District Level Sports Associations should collaborate to develop emerging athletes in Thoubal district, nurture their discipline, and support them in producing more successful athletes in the future for the betterment of society.
Many well-wishers and members of the Thoubal District Olympic Association also participated in the inauguration event.
