Jan. 29, 2025 : The Thoubal District Police, led by SP Rakesh Balwal, today launched a drive using the newly implemented e-challan system for traffic violations.
The drive is focused on National Highway 102, particularly near the Thoubal DC gate, to enforce traffic rules and ensure road safety.
The e-challan system aims to improve the efficiency of traffic enforcement, with fines being issued electronically for violations such as not wearing helmets or improper parking.
Speaking on the launch, SP Rakesh Balwal emphasized that the new system will help impose fines for violations, such as not wearing helmets and improper parking, in a more transparent and efficient manner.
“The e-challan system will ensure that fines are recorded digitally and can be paid online, providing a hassle-free experience for commuters,” he said.
Additional SP (Law and Order) Thoubal, N. Suraj Singh, also expressed support for the initiative, stating that it would streamline the enforcement process and reduce manual intervention.
The system will allow violators to pay fines online, with records maintained for transparency. For those who fail to pay fines, legal action, including court proceedings, will be pursued.
The NIC State Unit Imphal’s Programmer, Athokpam Yaikhomba, highlighted that the e-challan system records violations automatically, making it easier to track and manage fines.
Additionally, NIC Thoubal has also started training officers to ensure the smooth rollout of the e-challan system.
