Feb 19, 2025 : In a significant operation, Thoubal District Police, along with a column of 165 TA, launched a search operation at Irong Village under Nongpok Sekmai PS, based on reliable information. The team, led by Addl. SP (Ops) TBL H. Devendra Singh and assisted by DSP (HQ) TBL Y. Sunanta, recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.
Recovered items include:
- 1 SLR with magazine
- 1 5.56 Rifle
- 4 HE Hand Grenades
- 1 Chinese Hand Grenade
- 5 7.62mm live rounds
- 1 Tear Smoke Shell LR
- 2 Green Smoke 80MK1
- 1 Tear Smoke Shell (Soft Nose)
- 2 Baofeng Radio sets with antennas
- 1 Charger
- 2 5.56mm magazines
The operation, which began at 5:00 p.m., resulted in the seizure of the recovered items by 6:20 p.m., following formalities. The search operation concluded at 6:30 p.m. This significant haul is a testament to the efforts of the security forces in maintaining law and order in the region.
