In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Manipur Police on Saturday intercepted a Mahindra Thar near the Imphal Telegraph Office under Imphal Police Station, Imphal West District. Upon thorough inspection, police discovered 100 soap cases containing suspected heroin powder weighing approximately 1.16 kilograms, cleverly concealed inside the rooftop of the vehicle.
The contraband items were promptly seized, and three individuals traveling in the vehicle were arrested. The accused have been identified as:
- Wangpem Lamkang (20), son of Shetphung Lamkang from Lamkang Khunjai, Chandel District
- Jacop Shangkhil (18), son of Bening Shangkhil from Japhou, Chandel District
- Wanghon Khular (18), son of Ramshei Khular from Leipun Tampak, Chandel District
Authorities have initiated further investigation to trace the source and intended destination of the narcotics. The operation marks another step in Manipur Police’s continued efforts to curb the drug menace in the state.
