Three-Day Telangana–North East India Connect: Techno-Cultural Festival Kicks Off

“The Telangana–North East India Connect: Techno-Cultural Festival,” a three-day event that aims to foster cultural exchange, technological collaboration, and economic partnerships between Telangana and the Northeastern states, kicked off at the Hitex Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Many renowned athletes from the region, including Manipur, are all set to conduct sports clinics during the event, and various sporting organisations from the NE region will also sign MoUs with Telangana.

The inaugural session was attended by Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Tripura Governor Indira Sena Reddy, Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Mizoram Minister of State for Labour, Employment and Skill Development Lalnghinglova Hmar, and official delegations from across the Northeastern region.

Hosted by the Telangana Government in partnership with the Governor’s Office and the Ministry for the Development of the North Eastern Region, the first phase that begins today will continue till November 22 at the Hitex Exhibition Centre, and the second phase will be held from November 25 to 27 at Raj Bhavan.

The festival will showcase a range of events, including Fine Arts and Performing Arts, literary sessions, film screenings, youth-centric programmes, and exhibitions featuring products from women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

The highlights of the festival include badminton and football exhibition matches between Telangana and Northeast India teams, a panel discussion on “Spirit of the Game: Connecting Telangana and Northeast,” and a music concert by the renowned Shillong band, The Rudy Wallang Band.

The athletes from the region who will facilitate the “Sport Clinic” include boxer Sarita Devi, Wushu player Sandhyarani Devi, table tennis player Monalisa Baruah Mehta, judoka Sushila Devi, weightlifter Sanamacha Chanu, and gymnasts Mantu Debnath and Kalpana Debnath. During the event, the Sarita Regional Boxing Academy, Manipur Judo Association, Mizoram Government, Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools, and Tripura Government Gymnastics will exchange MoUs with Telangana.
