Chakpikarong, Aug. 27: In a dramatic conclusion to a 48-hour search operation, three children who went missing from the Oriental Hostel in Hringphe under the Chakpikarong Police Station were safely rescued today.
The children were reported missing around 5:00 p.m. on August 25, 2025, prompting an immediate response from the Chakpikarong police team led by OC Joy Martin. Despite an extensive search covering bus and auto stands, nearby villages, and routes on August 26, the children remained untraced.
However, under the supervision of SP Chandel, Shri Dharmendra Tyagi, IPS, a large joint combing operation was launched in the evening, involving local youths, village authorities, BSF (C-Coy 200), and Assam Rifles (Shaluk Post). The operation yielded results, with two of the boys being found in the jungle near Hringphe village around 9:20 p.m. Unfortunately, the third boy fled further into the jungle and could not be located despite a late-night search.
The operation resumed at dawn today, and around 5:00 a.m., the last boy was safely recovered near the Chakpi riverbank. All three children are now safe in the custody of Chakpikarong Police and have undergone medical check-ups at PHC Chakpikarong.
The police are expected to hand over the children to the concerned authorities after completing necessary formalities.
The successful recovery of the children is a testament to the tireless efforts of the police, security forces, local volunteers, and village authorities. The community remains grateful for the support extended by local youths, women volunteers, BSF, Assam Rifles, and all those involved in the search operation.
