Every light that sheds on the enduring impact of World War 2 (WWII) on Manipur has been less bright; however, Battlefield, directed by Borun Thokchom and produced by Praveen Ramaraju, a Hyderabad-based filmmaker, made under the banner of Viswamithra Universals, will tell through their lens with the voices of survivors and those affected. The feature-length documentary film also juxtaposes the divergence of the commemoration of war heroes in divergency and the silence surrounding the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Manipur.
The 80-minute-long film Battlefield (Manipuri) is scheduled to have its world premiere on 22nd November at 9:30 am at INOX – Audi II, Old GMC Building, Campal, Panjim, Goa, at the opening of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025.
The assistant director/sound recordist of the documentary is Suresh Kiran Khundrakpam (Tomba), edited by Subhadipta Biswas with Damba Sharma as Associate Editor, and sound design by Jeet Kshtricha.
The IFFI, organized by the Government of India, is the only film festival in South Asia accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations (FIAPF) among international festivals in the Competitive Feature Films category.
