A team of top-ranking Indian Army officials arrived in Imphal this morning on a routine visit.
The delegation was led by Lieutenant General Ram Chander Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Command, who was accompanied by Lieutenant General Abhijit Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding, 3 Corps, Major General Vangaru Raghu, and other senior staff officers.
The officers landed at Imphal International Airport aboard an Indian Air Force Dornier 228 aircraft around 10 AM and carried out a series of review meetings and engagements with local military leadership during the day.
According to defence sources, the visit is part of a routine assessment of the security and operational preparedness in the region.
The delegation is expected to leave Imphal later this evening.
