The Ching Tam Social Workers’ Union (CTSWU) has appealed to all tractor and paddy thresher owners and drivers to maintain road cleanliness and public safety during the ongoing harvest season.
In a public appeal issued by General Secretary Nandaraj Elangbam, the Union expressed deep respect for the hardworking farmers who feed the community but cautioned that certain practices, such as leaving mud on public roads or carrying out threshing on roadsides, are posing risks to commuters.
The statement highlighted that mud spilled by tractors or threshers often makes roads slippery and unsafe for both vehicles and pedestrians, leading to possible accidents and traffic obstruction.
It also urged operators to clean vehicle tires and machinery before entering public roads and to ensure that threshing is carried out only in designated or private areas.
Reiterating its slogan, “Clean Roads, Safe Commutes, Proud Farmers,” CTSWU called on everyone to cooperate in keeping public spaces clean while continuing to honor the vital role of farmers in society.
