In a major crackdown against underground elements, security forces arrested two active cadres of the proscribed outfit KCP (PWG) in separate operations conducted in Thoubal and Imphal East districts.
In the first operation, one Ahongsangbam Naobi Singh (42) of Khongjom Kheba Ching, Thoubal District, was arrested from Khongjom Khebaching area under Khongjom Police Station. He was reportedly involved in extortion activities in the Khongjom area. The following items were recovered from his possession: one M20 pistol with one magazine and two live rounds, one mobile phone with two SIM cards, and one two-wheeler.
In a follow-up action, another active cadre of KCP (PWG), identified as Maibam Tomba Singh @ Loya (42), originally from Tentha Khunjao, Thoubal District and presently residing at Khurai Kongpal Laishram Leikai, was arrested from his current residence under Porompat Police Station, Imphal East District. Seized from his possession were one 9 mm pistol with one magazine and six live rounds, and two mobile phones with two SIM cards.
Security forces have stepped up operations to curb underground activities and maintain peace in the region.
