Chandel, September 1, 2025 : Chandel Police have apprehended two prime suspects in connection with the death of Rifleman As. Rejoyson (29), son of As. Marah Tangkhul, of Soland Village, Chandel District, who was posted at 2nd MR, Imphal. The victim succumbed to injuries sustained in an assault near Women Market, Chandel, on August 29, 2025.
The accused, identified as Tensubam Premkumar @ Ravi (34) and his wife Yengkhom Ichantombi (27), both residents of Naharub Makhapat, Porompat, Imphal East District, were arrested in the early hours of September 1 at Khusophe, Anal Khunou area, approximately 45 km from Chandel District Headquarters, under Chakpikarong PS jurisdiction.
According to police, the assault occurred around 3:00 pm on August 29, and the victim was rushed to District Hospital, Chandel, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A case was registered at Chandel Police Station under FIR No. 3(8)2025 CDL-PS U/S 105(3)(5) BNS based on a written complaint from the victim’s sister, As. Thangrila.
The police investigation, led by Additional SP (Ops) Ts Chamna Anal and supervised by Shri Dharmendra Kumar Tyagi, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Chandel District, involved extensive search operations over the past three days. The accused were finally traced and arrested by the OC Chakpikarong PS Inspector Joy Martin and team.
Further investigation is underway, and the arrested individuals are being held at Chandel Police Station for legal action.
