A tragic road accident occurred yesterday afternoon when a Bolero Pick-Up (MN01A/7074) traveling from Imphal towards Noney met with a self-accident at Sliding Point near Sehjang village, Milestone 43 along NH-37.
The mishap, which reportedly occurred around 2 PM, resulted in the death of two passengers and left two others, including the driver, injured.
The deceased have been identified as Gaimeijuan Kamei (45), son of Pantilung Gangmei of Noney Part IV, and Demalu Hansu (26), son of Chandra Kachari from Dishagisim, Karbi Anglong, Assam. The driver, Pousinthui Gangmei (36), also from Noney Part IV, and one Dabney Ray (26) from Silchar sustained injuries and were evacuated to RIMS for treatment.
The bodies have been deposited at JNIMS morgue, Porompat, for post-mortem. Police have registered a suo moto case and launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
