Two Fraudsters Land Under Police Net for Assembly Fake Recruitment and Appointment

In what could be regarded as a swift police effort, two persons have been sent to 5-day police custody of Lamphel Police Station in a fraudulent case involving the circulation of fake appointment results and letters for alleged recruitment to various posts of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, according to sources.

According to sources, an FIR was filed yesterday and the duo was arrested a day after from Palace Compound, Imphal. Police also recovered and seized the electronic items used in committing the crime and sealed the place where the duo worked.

Mention may be made here that the Manipur Legislative Assembly has exposed the circulation of fake appointment results and letters for alleged recruitment to various posts.

The fabricated documents, dated 07-02-2025 and 26-03-2025 respectively, were even published as a news item in a local daily on 27-04-2025, sparking confusion among the public.

Issuing an official clarification through Yumlembam Nikesh Singh, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, the Secretariat categorically stated that no such appointment results or letters had been issued.

Terming the documents “totally false and fabricated,” the PRO confirmed that a written complaint was filed at Lamphel Police Station on 27-04-2025.

Acting swiftly, the police registered an FIR the same day at 1:30 p.m., launching an investigation to identify and prosecute those behind the criminal act.

The Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat expressed hope that the State Police Department would expedite the investigation in the interest of the general public, ensuring accountability and protecting the sanctity of public institutions.
