March 26, 2025: Security forces arrested three members from two proscribed outfits who were involved in extortion or serving monetary demands on Tuesday from the valley district of Manipur.
From Thangtek Terakhong, under Nambol Police Station of Bishnupur District, two active cadres of KCP (PWG), identified as Wairakpam Jagatchandra Singh alias Theko and Pebam Romen Singh alias Naopung (28) of Thangtek Terakhong of Nambol, were arrested. The duo had been involved in extortion activities and had served monetary demands to a shop, a doctor, an oil pump, and a private school in the Imphal West and Nambol areas, according to a police statement.
Meanwhile, the other person has been identified as an active member of SOREPA, Tayenjam Sanatomba Singh (43) of Chongtham Kona Mayai Leikai, Imphal West District, presently staying at Kongba near Standard College from Kongba. The arrestee had served monetary demands/threats to various government officials.
