In view of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) Council Headquarters has appealed to all CSOs and groups in Manipur not to impose any bandh, blockage, or any form of disturbance.
Many tribal people living in Imphal travel back to their villages to prepare for and observe Christmas and New Year with their families and communities, who are residents of remote and far-flung areas of the state, said a statement issued by TYCM.
Christmas on December 25 and New Year on January 1 are among the most important religious occasions for Christians, observed only once a year. The festive season is a time for prayer, thanksgiving, family reunion, and spiritual reflection after a year of hard work, the press statement said.
The TYCM expressed hope that all sections of society would cooperate to ensure a peaceful and disturbance-free atmosphere across the state during the celebrations.
