March 14: A one-day Awareness-cum-Udyam Registration Drive aimed at encouraging entrepreneurs to register their enterprises under the Udyam portal was organised today at Kakching Wairi Sabal Leikai Community Hall under Kakching CD Block.
The programme was organised by the District Industries Centre under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. Around 120 entrepreneurs from the district attended the event.
Director of RSETI Kakching and Lead District Manager for Ukhrul, Kamjong, Jiribam and Tamenglong districts Waikhom Birendra Singh attended the programme as chief guest. The event was presided over by Soibam Nabakunja Singh, General Manager of the District Industries Centre for Thoubal and Kakching districts, while Sapam Lalhari Singh of DIT Thoubal and Kakching attended as guest of honour.
During the programme, Oinam Deben Singh, Development Officer of the District Industries Centre for Thoubal and Kakching districts, addressed the participants as a resource person and explained the process of Udyam registration along with the advantages available to registered MSMEs.
Officials highlighted that Udyam registration provides formal recognition to enterprises and improves their credibility with banks, customers and suppliers. Registered MSMEs can also gain easier access to credit from financial institutions, avail government schemes and receive preferences in government procurement, including price preference and exemption from earnest money deposits.
As part of the ongoing outreach, additional awareness-cum-registration drives will be conducted in Kakching district at Langmeidong Panchayat Community Hall on March 23 and at Elangkhangpokpi Makha Leikai on March 24, between 10 am and 3:30 pm.
Entrepreneurs planning to attend the upcoming programmes have been asked to bring photocopies of Aadhaar (both sides), PAN card, the front page of the bank passbook, an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, email ID, and the name and address of their enterprise.
