An awareness and Udyam registration drive aimed at strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises was conducted on December 1 at Wabagai Panchayat Ghar under Kakching CD Block. The event was organised as part of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme of the Ministry of MSME and was implemented by the District Industries Centre, Manipur, with support from the Kakching District Administration.
The programme featured the participation of key district-level officials including Lead District Manager A. Altias, District Industries Centre General Manager Soibam Nabakunja Singh, and Block Mission Manager Mayanglambam Subashchandra Singh. Development Officer Oinam Deben Singh served as the resource person for the session.
Nearly 60 entrepreneurs received assistance during the drive, with women-led enterprises accounting for around 55 registrations. A significant share of the participants belonged to the OBC MSME category.
Udyam Registration, which enables formal recognition of MSMEs, offers access to government incentives, credit facilities, procurement preferences and protections such as safeguards against delayed payments. Organisers stressed that businesses without registration may miss out on these crucial benefits.
Entrepreneurs were informed about the registration process, which is conducted online through the official Udyam portal and does not require any fee. Required documents include Aadhaar, PAN, business address proof, bank details, ownership or partnership documents, incorporation certificates where applicable, and the relevant NIC code.
Officials noted that similar drives will continue to encourage more enterprises to enter the formal MSME ecosystem.
