UFO Urges Uplift of Thang-Ta, Reaffirms Founder’s Vision Behind Satjal at Thangmeiband Raising Day

The Universal Friendship Organisation (UFO) today highlighted the need to uplift Thang-Ta and strengthen the cultural discipline passed down by the Meitei forefathers. Speaking at the 20th Raising Day of Meitei Huyen Langlon Sintam Shanglen (Satjal Academy), Thangmeiband Branch, held at Thangmeiband Cheiraoching, UFO Secretary General Y. Meiraba Angom said Thang-Ta must once again take its rightful place as a guiding cultural foundation for the youth.

He highlighted that Satjal was formally established under Resolution No. 8, proposed at Pishum Chinga Meepham, where Churachand Maharaj, Arambam Samarendra, and Atom Babu Sharma set the purpose of institutionalising Meitei Huyen Langlon. This resolution, he said, continues to serve as the backbone of Satjal’s mission to nurture discipline, identity, and community values.

Speakers recalled the contribution of RK Sanahal, ancestor of UFO Founder RK Manisana, who safeguarded Thang-Ta even during the difficult periods of pre-Independence, the Second World War, and the post-war social transitions. The spread of Huyen Langlon training across Manipur, Cachar, and Assam was described as a result of unwavering commitment from generations of practitioners and particularly the Founders.

The event commenced with a tribute to Founder RK Manisana, followed by the hoisting of the UFO flag by Naharol Leishemba Club President Laishram Chandra Kumar. The programme also saw participation from Thang-Ta instructor T. Mohen and members from various regions of Manipur.
