The United Kuki National Army (UKNA), a non-signatory of the SoO with the GoI, has claimed responsibility for today’s ambush at Mongjang village in Churachandpur district by its cadre, that killed four, including Thahpi Haokip, a commander of the Kuki National Army (KNA), also known as Thenkhothang or Thahpi.
In an immediately issued press statement, it stated the KNA C-in-C and his colleague were punished by the outfit and alleged that KNA C-in-C Thahpi had previously killed UKNA PRO Satkhohao, one Tamin alias Hunter (Thangminlal Haokip), and 30 others.
At the ambush, altogether four people died, including a woman suspected to be from a nearby village. The ambush took place when the deceased KNA C-in-C, along with two others, was traveling together in the area.
