UNC Issues Stricture Against Unmandated Indigenous Day Event; Warns Naga Community Leaders

In a decisive move, the United Naga Council (UNC) has issued a stern stricture against the “unauthorised” hosting of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples by the Indigenous People’s Forum, Manipur (IPFM).

President NG. Lorho emphasised the imperative for Naga community leaders, including Wungnaoshang Kasar of IPFM, to uphold the community’s unity and avoid participation in the contentious event scheduled for August 9, 2025, at City Convention, Palace Compound, Imphal.

The UNC reiterated its stance on safeguarding Naga aspirations, cautioning against any involvement that could undermine collective indigenous rights.
