Under President’s Rule, Fresh Kuki Militant Attack Sparks Panic at Kongba Maru

Feb 28, 2025: Amidst the imposition of President’s Rule and ongoing efforts to recover illegal weapons, Kongba Maru in Imphal East witnessed heightened tension today when Kuki militants reportedly opened fire, sparking fear and panic among local residents.

The incident occurred around 9:30 AM as devotees gathered at the Kongba Maru shrine for ritual performances under the watchful eye of central and state forces.

Eyewitnesses reported that the militants fired 7-8 rounds indiscriminately, targeting the group of devotees.

This alarming act has intensified concerns over security in the region, prompting urgent calls for action from the local community.

In response to the attack, residents have urged the Governor to swiftly dismantle the bunkers of the Kuki militants, citing continuous threats to their safety.

Expressing deep frustration over the recurring violence, residents are demanding stricter measures to restore peace and normalcy in Kongba Maru.

As of now, no arrests have been made by the security forces in connection with the fresh attack.
