The United Youths Progressive Organisation (UNYPO), Kakching Chumnang Leikai, celebrated its 31st Foundation Day along with the Annual Literary Meet 2025 at the Kakching Chumnang Community Hall on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by Naorem Sanjitkumar, Caretaker Chairperson of Kakching Municipal Council, as Chief Guest; Moirangthem Suresh, President of UNYPO, as President of the function; and Km. Pukhrambam Sanahal Devi, Caretaker Councillor of Ward No. 4, as Guest of Honour.
In his address, Naorem Sanjitkumar highlighted the contributions of local clubs in guiding youth in sports, culture, education, and nationalism. He emphasized the need to support and encourage such clubs to keep young people actively engaged. He also announced that the Municipal Council would extend cooperation in erecting a memorial for Athouba Jiten, who dedicated his life to protecting the land and resisting Kuki narco-terrorism.
During the event, felicitations were given to 17 elderly citizens aged over 80, 5 differently-abled individuals, 4 achievers in various fields, and 26 meritorious students excelling in Class 10, Class 12, and University-level examinations. All were honoured with gifts and tokens of encouragement.
The celebration concluded with cultural dances and musical performances, which captivated the audience until the end of the day.
