Imphal, November 13, 2025 : A one-day media workshop titled ‘VARTALAP’ on Art & Culture, Youth Affairs & Sports, and Cyber Security Awareness was held today at Hotel Imphal, North AOC, under the theme “Capacity Building of Media Persons Working in the State of Manipur.” The event was organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Regional Office, Imphal, Government of India.
The workshop was inaugurated by Ngangom Uttam Singh (MCS), Director, Information & Public Relations and MAHUD, Government of Manipur, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
In his address, Uttam Singh emphasized that the topics of the workshop were highly relevant to the people of Manipur and India. He underscored the importance of strengthening emotional integrity and fostering unity among the people of Manipur to preserve the state’s territorial integrity.
Highlighting the significance of Art and Culture, he said they play a crucial role in building emotional unity, while Sports serve as a unifying force that strengthens national identity. He also commended the achievements of sportspersons from Manipur who have brought laurels to the nation through their talent and dedication.
Addressing the session on Cyber Security Awareness, Uttam Singh cautioned that although digital systems have simplified life and work, they also pose serious risks at the individual and national levels. He noted that cyber systems are being weaponized as tools of modern warfare by developed nations. He also warned against the spread of misinformation and incomplete news, urging media organizations such as EGM and AMWJU to promote responsible and accountable use of social media platforms.
The inaugural session was also attended by Dr. Engam Pame, IIS, Director, PIB Imphal, as the President of the function, along with Asem Bhakta Singh, President, All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU), and Yumnam Rupachandra Singh, Secretary General, Editors’ Guild Manipur (EGM), as Special Invitees.
