March 11, 2026 : Tension reportedly arose at Waphong village in Kangpokpi district after security forces attempted to dismantle an alleged illegal bunker in the area.
According to current reports, personnel of the Assam Rifles allegedly destroyed a bunker said to belong to Naga volunteers at Waphong Naga village.
The action reportedly triggered immediate resistance from the village’s womenfolk, who came out in large numbers and opposed the move by the security personnel.
Sources from the area stated that the women intervened when the security forces attempted to dismantle the structure, leading to a brief standoff at the site.
No major injuries or casualties have been reported so far.
The incident comes amid ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle illegal bunkers and fortified positions in various parts of the state as part of measures aimed at restoring normalcy.
