Feb. 13, 2025: The Wangjing Transport Driver’s Union (WTDU) celebrated its First Foundation Day with a community event held at Wangjing Hodamba Maning Leikai.
The event saw active participation from WTDU President Hijam Priyokumar, Wangjing Gram Panchayat Pradhan Tekcham Ongbi Sumila Devi, social worker Kshetrimayum Priyobata, and Pioneer Club General Secretary Norem Iboyai, alongside members from various communities.
The gathering aimed to highlight the role of transport drivers in the region’s development and strengthen solidarity among them.
A significant part of the event was dedicated to honoring the contributions of local drivers, with special recognition for those who have worked tirelessly, particularly during difficult times.
In his address, WTDU President Hijam Priyokumar expressed appreciation for the drivers’ dedication and urged them to continue contributing to the welfare of the community.
He emphasized that the union would strive to improve the drivers’ working conditions, including ensuring their safety on National Highways, and would address issues such as better facilities and welfare support.
The event also focused on improving community relations, with a special message encouraging drivers to maintain respectful and cordial relations with the public, fostering goodwill in every journey they undertake.
