Watershed Mahotsav Launched in Manipur Under PMKSY-WDC 2.0 Campaign

The State Level Nodal Agency (SLNA) for Watershed Management, Manipur, launched the Watershed Mahotsav, joining the nationwide campaign under PMKSY–WDC 2.0 aimed at strengthening community involvement in watershed development and long-term sustainability.

The campaign was formally launched by Dr. R.K. Radhesana Devi, CEO of SLNA, in the presence of Dr. R.K. Sunita Devi, Additional CEO, and Ngangbam Rajesh Singh, Senior Finance Officer. Popular actress and social media influencer Soma Laishram attended the event as a special invitee.

Speaking at the ceremony, the CEO highlighted the urgent need to conserve soil and water resources and called for active participation from all stakeholders. She encouraged field teams to carry out a range of activities across project sites during the campaign, including Bhoomi Poojan for new works, inauguration of completed projects, cleanliness drives, and tree plantation initiatives.

As part of the campaign, SLNA also announced a state-level social media competition featuring two segments—reel making and photography.

Four short reels (30–60 seconds) will be selected, each carrying a prize of ₹50,000:
• 2 reels on Water Harvesting Structures created under PMKSY-WDC
• 1 reel on similar structures from other schemes
• 1 reel on agro-forestry/horticulture activities

The photography category will award 50 winning photographs, each receiving ₹1,000. Further details are available on the official website: slna.mn.gov.in.

The launch programme was attended by district officials of PMKSY-WDC 2.0, along with representatives of SHGs, User Groups, Farmer Producer Organizations, Community-Based Organizations, and Watershed Committees.
