As part of the ongoing Watershed Mahotsav, an awareness Prabhat Pheri was organised today at Pourabi in Imphal East district. The event was held as a key activity of the celebration and aimed at promoting public awareness on watershed management, according to officials.
The programme was conducted under the initiative of the Watershed Management Committee, PMKSY 2.0, Imphal East District. Participants in the rally included Project Officer RK Romen, Technical Expert Sunil Kanta, school students, community members, and staff of the District Administration, Imphal East.
Following the rally, officials inaugurated various watershed-related infrastructure developed under PMKSY 2.0, including projects at Pourabi, Uyam Mapal, Nongada, and Nungoi. These works were highlighted as part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen water resource management in the area.
The month-long Watershed Mahotsav, which began on November 17 and will continue till December 16, 2025, is being celebrated across different locations with the objective of enhancing public awareness and encouraging wider community participation in watershed activities.
Technical Expert Sunil Kanta stated that the programme is designed to deepen public understanding of watershed initiatives and promote active involvement of local communities.
