The Working Committee Kuki CSOs (WCKCSOs) has issued a warning of imposing a total blockage along the Asian Highway/National Highway-2 from 7 AM on August 8th if FNCC fails to rescind the indefinite restriction on movement of Kuki-Zo people in Naga-inhabited areas within 38 hours’ time.
The 38-hour ultimatum, served last night through a statement issued to the press, also ultimately identified the perpetrators behind this uncivilized and undemocratic protest, who are utilizing and coercing the “Foothills Naga” as a mere scapegoat.
The FNCC committee, which imposed the restriction since July 18 midnight, earlier said they considered the movement of Kuki-Zo as an ‘existential threat’ and demanded the removal of Kuki SoO camps placed in close proximity to foothill areas and illegal road construction along the Naga-inhabited areas.
“This campaign of hatred being orchestrated by FOCS and the Federation of Haomee against the Kukis has gained considerable traction within the Liangmei community, who reside alongside the Kukis,” the statement also alleged.
It said since the onset of the ethnic conflict of 3rd May 2023, certain radicalized Meitei supremacists have been sowing seeds of animosity and distrust between the two tribal communities, the Kuki-Zo and the Nagas of Manipur, in a bid to fulfil their agenda of ethnic persecution.
