Feb 23, 2025: Emphasizing that seven days is sufficient for surrendering illegal weapons, Chief Secretary PK Singh stated, “If one decides to surrender, it can be done in a day. We will find and take it” once the Governor’s ultimatum expires.
“Leaving weapons in public or private hands poses serious dangers. Recovering illegal weapons promptly and peacefully is imperative,” he added during a media query at an event distributing bicycles and looms to IDP students and weavers at the Imphal East DC complex.
Highlighting the priority of restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur, PK Singh emphasized ongoing efforts on multiple fronts.
He assured that security deployments on Manipur’s highways are being reinforced, with additional forces soon to follow.
While unable to provide a specific timeline for highway reopening, he pledged media access once the process is finalized.
The Chief Secretary also stressed that confidence-building measures are crucial for peace restoration, asserting a widespread desire for stability among the populace.
While speaking at the event, the Chief Secretary assured the timely delivery of all necessities to IDPs moving forward.
