The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high-impact weather warning for several districts in Manipur, notably Noney, Tamenglong, and Senapati. Starting from May 30 and continuing until June 2, 2025, these regions are expected to witness extremely heavy rainfall, gusty winds, thunderstorms, and lightning.
A Red Alert has been issued for Tamenglong and Senapati districts for the 24-hour period from May 30 at 08:30 IST to May 31 at 08:30 IST, with rainfall exceeding 20 cm expected in isolated areas. Noney district is also under alert due to forecasts of heavy to very heavy rainfall and severe wind activity, likely to persist through June 2.
In response, the District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) of Tamenglong and Noney have urged residents to exercise maximum caution and remain vigilant.

Individuals should avoid vulnerable areas like rivers, streams, and flood or landslide-prone zones. If living in a risky structure, they are urged to relocate to safer ground.
Staying indoors with doors and windows shut is advised, and travel should be avoided unless necessary.
During thunderstorms, unplug electronic devices, stay away from water bodies, and avoid sheltering under trees or near metal objects.
Signs of potential landslides—such as unusual ground movement, cracks in walls or land, or the sound of cracking trees—should be reported immediately.
