WHEN WE SHOW RESPECT FOR ONE ANOTHER, THE BOND OF UNITY WILL GROW STRONGER: CHIEF MINISTER

Imphal, 21st January 2025 (DIPR): Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh attended the 33rd General Conference Cum Sports Meet 2025 held at Riha village, Kamjong district today. The programme was organized by the Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (Southern Tangkhul Students’ Union).

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister expressed his happiness at witnessing the scenic beauty of the surroundings and appreciated the locals for taking good care of and preserving the environment.

Shri N. Biren Singh stated that the BJP-led government does not differentiate between the hills and the valley in developmental projects, emphasizing the belief in the inclusive development of the State. “When we show respect for one another, the bond of unity will grow stronger,” he added.

Elaborating on some major works undertaken over the last seven years in Kamjong district, the Chief Minister said that the construction of the Mini Secretariat in Kamjong has been completed and will be inaugurated soon. He added that the Ava (Ema) market and the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) will also be inaugurated shortly.

He further stated that two Higher Secondary Schools in the district will be upgraded, and the construction of school buildings at Kamjong and Kasom is nearing completion. Additionally, the construction of two schools under the School Fagathansi initiative at Kamjong and Kasom Khullen is almost finished. A DIET Centre at Kasom Khullen is also under construction. Moreover, 33/11 KV Sub-Stations are being constructed at Nambashi and Ramphoi, he added.

The Chief Minister emphasized several major projects recently sanctioned for the district, including NH-102A (Shangshak to Tengnoupal), with an estimated cost of around ₹1,300 crore. He also mentioned the sanctioning of a bridge over the Maklang River and announced that a District Transport Office (DTO) would soon be opened in Kamjong. He assured the locals that the government is considering developing the village as a tourist destination by initiating various developmental projects in the area.

Highlighting developmental works in hill districts, Shri N. Biren Singh stated that an astroturf football ground has been handed over to the people of Ukhrul district. Additionally, the gallery of the Ukhrul Sports Complex was constructed by the BJP-led government, and the construction of an amusement park is underway. Pettigrew College will also be upgraded with an estimated cost of around ₹70 crore, he added.

To address the scarcity of water in Ukhrul district, a dam has been constructed at Shiroy Hill, with a total sanction of around ₹6 crore.

The Chief Minister also announced that the State government is considering the establishment of a degree college in Kamjong district. He further assured that a gallery would be constructed at Lungreiphung Ground in Riha village, Kamjong district, with an estimated cost of around ₹2.5 crore.

The function was attended by Ministers, MLAs, Village Chiefs, CSO leaders, and locals of Riha village, among others.
