March 21, 2025 : All efforts to trace the 20-year-old boy from Imphal, who went missing on March 16 from the Kuki-dominated area of Bishnupur, have remained fruitless, and his whereabouts are still unknown.
While the police, along with other security forces, continue their search, protesters led by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) staged a sit-in protest at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai Community Hall in Imphal, demanding his safe return as tensions rise.
The JAC also demands immediate action from the state and central authorities, terming the government’s initiative for free movement as meaningless if people disappear and never return.
The 20-year-old Luwangthem Mukesh left home in a red Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 car, and CCTV footage shows his vehicle near Kuki-dominated villages in Bishnupur district, around 30 km from Imphal. His mother, Luwangthem Omila Devi, has filed a police complaint, but his whereabouts remain unknown.
