March 27, 2026 (IMP): An unidentified human skull, along with part of a skeleton, was found this afternoon near the Singda Dam area, close to Ningtham Lok, a fringe area between Imphal West and Kangpokpi district.
Police and a forensic science team reached the spot and have begun an investigation to ascertain the identity of the human remains. However, it is not yet known whose remains they are. This macabre discovery has brought back the incident of the missing case of Laishram Kamalbabu (56), a supervisor with the Military Engineering Services, who has been missing since November 25, 2024, near the highly secured Leimakhong Army camp in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district.
His disappearance had sparked protests, with questions raised about security lapses in the restricted area, and the case was handed over to the CBI.
