A fortnight-long Winter Mela, organised to ease shoppers’ challenges during the festive season, commenced on Wednesday at Old Market, Japhou Bazar. The event, hosted by the Japhou Bazar Youth Club (JBYC), carries the vibrant theme “Bringing Fun and the Spirit of Winter.”
The inaugural programme was attended by SDO/BDO Chandel, Anunay Anand (IAS), as Chief Guest; Dr. N. Munal Meitei, DFO Chandel, as Guest of Honour; and JS Angam, Chairman of the Maha Area Chief Association (MACA), as Functional President.
Running from December 10 to 23, the Winter Mela features a lively mix of stalls offering hot food, winter clothing, festive games, and decorative items tailored to the needs of holiday shoppers.
During the launching ceremony, the dignitaries lauded the efforts of the JBYC in organising the event and encouraged the public to enjoy the festivities, maintain a cheerful atmosphere, and spread harmony throughout the season.
The mela will remain open daily from 12 pm to 10 pm, promising a warm, bustling, and joyful celebration for the community throughout the festive days.
