A 38-year-old woman from Leikinthabi Shantipur, identified as Thangjam Thaba Devi, was rescued alive this afternoon after she accidentally fell into a deep well at Sekmai Awang Leikinthabi.
According to officials from the Manipur Fire Service, the incident occurred around 1:15 pm when locals spotted the woman trapped inside the well and immediately alerted the Police Control Room.
Acting swiftly on the information, a joint rescue team comprising personnel from the Manipur Fire Service, Sekmai Police, and the 2/8 Gurkha Regiment from Koirengei rushed to the spot.
The team deployed specialized rescue gear, including breathing apparatus sets, tripods, and rope harnesses, to retrieve the woman safely from the narrow and deep structure.
After a tense operation, the woman was successfully brought out and attended to by the rescuers.
