Over 500 Women Attend the Viksit Bharat @ 2047 Outreach Programme in Heirok

March 23, 2026 (TBL): A special outreach programme on ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047 and Nari Shakti through Financial Inclusion’ stressed women’s empowerment and the importance of health and financial inclusion. Organized by the Central Bureau of Communication, Regional Office Imphal, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, it was held on Monday at the Laipung Community Hall, Heirok Part (III), in Thoubal district.

The programme was attended by Nishipriya Ningthoujam, District Coordinator – Financial Inclusion, and Rajkumari Nikita, District Mission Manager, both from MSRLM Thoubal district, who attended as resource persons, providing valuable information to the VLFs regarding their operations and the proper use of financial resources.

Speaking at the programme, Chief Guest AC to DC Moirangthem Priyaroshni, MCS, stated that the difficulties and problems faced by women are known only to women themselves. Even high-profile women face personal problems. Life requires money, and if money is managed well, these problems can be overcome. Therefore, it is crucial for women to strive for self-sufficiency in health and acquire knowledge along with the ability to earn money legally. With financial resources, they can achieve their desires. The ability to earn money legally is very important for women, she emphasized.

Dr. Nongmaithem Reena, IIS, FPO of CBC, RO, Imphal, a Guest of Honour, speaking on the occasion, said that the purpose of the programme was to disseminate information about various developmental schemes of the Government of India, including health, education, women and child welfare, and others.

Specifically, the Government of India aims to make India a developed nation by 2047, the 100th anniversary of India’s independence. To achieve this, improving the condition of women is crucial. Therefore, empowering women, providing them with health and education, and creating avenues for them to earn money are essential for India’s development. The programme was primarily aimed at enhancing financial literacy among women, specifically teaching them how to earn and manage money.

The programme, jointly organized by Ningol Club Heirok, Apunbagi Thouna VLF, Leimarembi VLF, Ikop Ningthou VLF, Leisemba VLF, Palem Panthou VLF, and Duhu Laikol VLF, witnessed the presence of Moirangthem Priyaroshni, MCS, AC to DC of Thoubal district, as Chief Guest, while Ningthoujam Ibemma, an active woman from MSLRM Heirok, attended as President. Dr. Nongmaithem Reena, IIS, Field Publicity Officer of CBC, RO, Imphal, and Moirangthem Inunganbi Chanu, Secretary of Ningol Club Heirok, were the Guests of Honour.

Over 500 women participants from various VLFs attended the programme. Following this, a quiz competition related to the programme’s theme was held, with participants actively engaging and providing correct answers. Those who answered correctly were felicitated with gifts from CBC, RO, Imphal.
