The vendors of Wangjing–Heirok Lamkhai New Market have issued a strong warning to the authorities concerned that the part of the Wangjing–Heirok road stretch in front of the Wangjing New Market should be blacktopped within 5 days. If failed, the road will be blocked by digging up the said damaged road.
According to the women vendors of Wangjing New Market, the area in front of the New Market has become extremely difficult to use because of the damage due to unrepaired condition in time.
One Maibam Ibecha Devi, President of Wangjing New Market Management Committee, said that the part of the road stretch in front of Wangjing–Heirok Lamkhai New Market area has deteriorated badly.
She further said that many of the women vendors suffered dust-related diseases due to inhaling dust particles daily.
Ibecha also stated that despite regular appeals made earlier, the authorities have failed to repair the road, and the damage has only increased. She warned that if the government and responsible department fail to repair the road within the next 5 days, the vendors will block the road by digging it up.
The women vendors shouted, “Repair the road immediately”.
