Deputy CM Losii Dikho Attends Inaugural Session; Cultural Events Mark Opening Day
Senapati, February 26: The 8th General Conference of the Poumai Naga Naotumai Me (PNNM) commenced at Senapati district headquarters, drawing community leaders, civil society representatives and delegates from across Poumai Naga villages. Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho graced the inaugural function as chief guest.
Organised under the theme “Ignite Your Sparkle,” the conference reflects the continued efforts of the women’s organisation founded in 1987. The session was presided over by R.B. Pani, President of the Poumai Naga Union, while the event is being hosted by Joshila Sharma Pou, wife of 33-Heirok MLA Th. Radheshyam Singh. L.S. Champa, wife of former Minister Lt. L.S. John, is serving as chief patron.
Addressing the gathering, Dikho said conferences dedicated to women signify positive transformation within society. He observed that such platforms offer opportunities for reflection, learning and collective growth. Expressing gratitude for the support extended to him after assuming office, he said his responsibility extends beyond party lines, noting that he represents the broader Naga community while acknowledging the diverse leadership structure within the state.
He encouraged women to take active roles in building harmonious families and stronger communities, emphasising unity and peaceful coexistence. Reflecting on his personal journey, Dikho paid tribute to his mother’s influence, describing her sacrifices and guidance as foundational to his life and public service.
Earlier, P. Louniiru, Advisor to PNNM, delivered the welcome address and appreciated the Deputy Chief Minister’s presence at the conference. Rev. M.K. Levi Pou offered a special prayer for donors during the programme.
The inaugural ceremony included the hoisting of the PNNM flag by R.B. Pani and the unveiling of the conference monolith by the chief guest. Cultural highlights featured Gai-Gou performances, presentation of the theme song by Poumai artists, traditional wool-making demonstrations, folk music and dances.
The conference is being attended by former elected representatives, CSO leaders, Army and CRPF officials, former ADC members, ex-MLAs from the Poumai community, representatives of KSTC, SDOAM and SDBA, the CMO of Senapati, members of the Karong Senapati Town Committee, and delegates from various Poumai Naga villages.
